Day 12: May 27, 2015 Key Largo to Marathon Key 52 miles
Hot, sunny, hot, nice tailwind, hot, good roads, hot, beautiful scenery, hot, and good memories from our ride in 2011. Did I mention it was hot? Amazingly we are all doing a pretty good job at staying hydrated. It takes about 40 oz of liquid every 15 miles. We made very good time today, got to our destination in time to have lunch. The downside of a tailwind is that it feels a lot hotter without the breeze in your face. We had a few stretches today of riding at a 20 mph pace. My message to bone marrow transplant patients: anything is possible, it may take some work, hard wotk, but anything is possible. My message to caregivers: your job is the hardest of all, believe, never give up hope! So glad Karen got to make this trip with Katie and I. One more day of riding, 50 miles tomorrow to Key West. Lifeblood, we ride for a brighter future!
