Day 8: May 23, 2015 West Palm Beach to Hollywood Beach, 55 miles and 105 Degrees!
Day 8 was a hot, long day. Did we say long? Did we say hot? Did we say money? We left West Palm Beach and rode through miles and miles of homes each bigger than the next. And, then there were the boats, yachts and myriad water craft. We saw a man, being driven around by someone else. We rode in a scrum of riders, each with their high priced bikes. Quite a day. Famished, we rode into Boca and enjoyed hospitality and great food from the proprietor of the Boca Beach Cantina on E. Palmetto Park Road. If you are in the area, stop in and say hi. Lots of good stories to hear there!
The picture showing Bob changing Kate’s tire at the bike store next door was our only mechanical issue so far. As we started our second half of the trip, the temperature was over 100F on the pavement and a quick trip to a drug store to get ice and water helped to cool us. A reroute around the Ft. Lauderdale airport and a final trip across the drawbridge that bit Kate and Bob in 2011 got us into Hollywood Beach. A nice long swim in the ocean followed. We settled in for a nice time at dinner and a last evening with Chuck and Jacki.
